Status Bar
|
| The Map Viewer’s status bar displays the currently selected tool, the scale of the map, the width and height of the map and the lower left and
upper right coordinates. |
The scale can be edited to zoom on a specific scale. |
Navigation Tools
|
The Map Viewer offers several navigation tools like zoom and pan, as well as topology analysis tools like a buffering tool that can select
elements located at a given distance from other elements.
 |
Pan |
Use to view a different part of the map without changing the view magnification.
|
Zoom In |
Use to increases a view window's magnification, making the elements on the map appear larger.
|
Zoom Out |
Use to decreases a view's magnification, making the elements on the map appear smaller.
|
Window Area |
Use to define the boundaries of a rectangular area of the map to be displayed within a view.
|
Fit |
Use to adjust the view magnification so that the entire map is visible in the view.
|
Refresh |
Refresh the view, no need to reload the map.
|
Update Info |
Use to update the Info section according to the element selected on the map.
|
Select Map Elements |
Use to select different elements on the map.
|
Select Map Elements By Circle |
Use to select different elements on the map by drawing a circle.
|
Select Map Elements By Polygon |
Use to select different elements on the map by drawing a polygon.
|
Needle Selection |
Selection by a point across all displayed layers (for example for selecting multiple polygons overlaying each other).
|
Unselect Elements |
Unselects all currently selected elements, no need to click in the view.
|
Measure Distance |
Use to measure distances on the map.
|
Measure Area |
Use to measure areas and perimeters on the map.
|
Buffer Tool |
Use to select elements located at a given distance from other elements. Enter an element and a distance value in the box. The map automatically updates in the Map Viewer.
|
Overlay Tool |
Use to select elements of specified type that overlay the selected element.
|
Copy to Clipboard |
Use to copy the view to the clipboard.
|
Plot View |
Opens the Plot View dialog box, which is used to adjust printing settings and create a printed output of the view.
|
Advanced Print |
The advanced print tool lets end users generate cartographic quality print from the Map Viewer.
User can select a libraries and borders, and then they can pick up a paper size and define a scale they want
to plot to. As scale and paper size is selected and modified, the footprint of the border is interactively
displayed on the map. If user defined fields are setup in the border they selected, they can be filled in at
this time. Once all options are set, users can just print and a PDF file will be saved locally.

Restore Floating Frames |
| Restore the floating frames to their original position. |
Maximize Viewer |
| Maximize the viewer to occupy the entire space in the browser. Click again to get the original size. |
|
To create a polygon overlay:
- First make sure that at least two layers that are eligible for spatial analysis are displayed (you can check the layer properties by
clicking on a layer name in the display area, or you can directly access the layer book from here).
- Select an element from the first layer, for example select an “electoral area polygon” from the Electoral Areas Layer.
(You can temporarily turn off the destination layer to make the selection easier).
- From the Overlay dialog in the Map Viewer toolbar, choose the Overlay tool.
- When the Overlay tool is activated, it displays two layer lists: one for the base layer and one for the destination layer.
Only the ‘topological’ layers that are currently displayed will be available in these lists:

- Select a base layer, then select a destination layer and click on the Overlay tool

- The polygons in the destination layer that are inside or that are overlapping the selected polygon of the base layer are now selected and highlighted. You can get a
report on the associated elements by using the update Info tool
